Mr. Douglass is a prolific community activist, a Producer, Director, and award winning writer. As a performing artist, Mr. Douglass has appeared in over eight Broadway shows including the title role in “The Wiz”, “Eubie”, and other credits too numerous to list here. Among them he lists: Co-starring in the London production of an award winning musical opposite the late, Ms. Lena Horne; the International tour of her one woman show, "Lena Horne...The Lady and Her Music". He also toured with the late Lauren Bacall in "Sweet Bird of Youth.” Mr. Douglass is the proud recipient of two coveted NAACP Theatre Awards for excellence in Musical Theatre writing and producing, in Los Angeles. As a writer Mr. Douglass has been commissioned to create a trilogy of Shakespearean comedies as contemporary American Musical Theatre. He is adapting “A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream”, “Much Ado About Nothing” and “As You like It”. Combined the pieces are Mr. Douglas’s “Funkified Shakespearean Musical Trilogy”. His dynamic calypso musical play "De Obeah Mon", (based on Moliere’s ‘The Doctor In Spite Of Himself’), received 6 NAACP theatre Awards, rave notices, multiple accolades, other awards and honors, and is slated for a revival production and tour in the Fall and Winter of 2024. Currently in the works also, are two events being designed for television, “It’s The Happiest Time Of The Year” (originally titled “And Christmas Came To Watts Too...”), and his major television pilot sit-com entitled “Mummy and The Ghost” created and written by Mr. Douglass
